What is changing and why?
South City currently worships together at 10:30 am on Sundays. Starting February 6, 2022, will worship together starting at 9:30 am. The service will be the same, except for the time change. We believe it is the responsibility of the local church to train and equip gospel-centered disciple-makers (Ephesians 4:12). By pushing the service time back one hour, we are able to invite everyone who wants to make disciples to an intentional training at 11 am. We’re calling this “Equip”.
New Sunday morning rhythm starting February 2022:
Sunday 9:30am-10:45am: Worship
Sunday 11:00am-12:00pm: Equip (most Sundays, see schedule)
When does this time change happen?
Starting February 6, 2022.
What is Equip? Who should attend? How do I register?
Equip trains disciple-makers to know God and make Him known. If you are a disciple of Jesus, God has called you to make disciples! Equip is for those who are new to disciple-making and veterans! We want you to gain the confidence to fulfill the great commission right where you are – across the cubicle aisle, down the street, and at school. You can register for Equip (including childcare for kids) here!
What can I expect at Equip?
The first six weeks (February 6-March 13th) will be focused on leading a Triad (discipleship group of 3). You can expect 15-20 minutes of teaching followed by round table discussions, practice, and practical application.
Have you wondered how to invite someone to a Triad? What do you say? Will it be awkward? Who should I even invite? What will we study? I don’t have time to prepare a lesson. If we reach 4 or 5 people, do we really need to multiply into two groups? How do we get from just a bible study to a deeper level of confession and prayer? I am the only one who is willing to pray, what do I do? Someone asked a question that I don’t know the answer to…how do I respond?
Equip is a great space to begin to talk about those questions and pray for each other as we go into the world, praying the Lord would use us to make disciples right where we are.
What about SCKids + childcare during Equip?
SCKids will continue like normal during the worship gathering from 9:30-10:45 am. Childcare for Equip will start at 11:00 am. More info to come on check-in/check-out processes and location! Just make sure your kids (and yourself!) are pre-registered for Equip childcare starting at 11:00am.
