erry Kidd was born in Hope, AR, and saved at the Unity Baptist Church when he was twelve. He attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, where he met Sue Hudson at College View Baptist Church. He and Sue were married on August 26, 1960. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible from Central Baptist College, Conway, and pastored churches in Arkansas, and Louisiana. Jerry also pastored an Interstate Mission project in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. During the five years they were there, he and Sue adopted their two children, Jason and Juli. They now have three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
At LeTourneau College in Longview, TX, while taking missionary tech courses, Jerry earned his pilot’s license. He also pastored while in Longview.Jerry served eight years in Bolivia, South America, as pilot of a Cessna 206. He and his family lived in the city of Santa Cruz, and he flew out to remote jungle villages to support missionaries by bringing all their food, mail, and other supplies. Flights were made to many villages where the name of Jesus had never been spoken in order to show Christian films and preach the Gospel. The Cessna was also utilized to transport very sick villagers to hospitals.
In 1982, while the Kidds were on their second furlough, the Missions Department of the BMAA was restructured, and Jerry was asked to serve as Foreign Missions Director. For the next 35 years, he traveled throughout the world, including Russia and all the countries of the former Soviet Union, most of Europe, and many countries in Asia and Africa as well as Australia.
In January 2013 Jerry became pastor of Temple Baptist Church. Knowing the church needed younger leadership, he prayed for and was excited when the Lord called Drew Cline to be lead pastor in October 2016. Jerry remains a key leader and elder of South City.
